HEALTHLINE: HANK AND JEANNE OUELLETTE thank you all for your kind expressions of sympathy upon the loss of Hank's brother. The WINCHESTERS want to thank Maggie and Thurman Sorrell for going to Ft. Myers in the wee hours of the morning to bring them home to King's Gate after their auto accident.
MEMBERS OF KINGS GATE: My gratitude for the many cards, letters, phone calls, expressions of concern, and prayers for my recovery from my recent surgery. King's Gate is truly a wonderful place to live. Many, many thanks.
KING'S GATE COOKS: The KGC Cookbooks have just arrived and are on sale this morning for $8 each.
TODAY'S THE LAST DAY: If you haven't filled out a ballot form regarding Honore Avenue, please enter your vote on a form available in the back of the room and put it in the box. This is the last day we will be collecting these forms. Every resident may vote. Segment A is the portion that concerns us at King's Gate, and alignment 3 is our best choice.
TENNIS TOURNAMENT: It's TODAY, rain date March 9. Hot dogs and soda will be served. Bring lawn chairs for more comfortable seating.
ATTENTION: This is a reminder to all ticket holders to the Sarasota Men's Annual Barbershop Show, Sunday, March 9th at Van Wezel, "With a Song in My Heart," - Showtimes: 2:30 PM and 7:00 PM. Additional questions: Call John Canfield, 488-6150. Available tickets can still be purchased at the door.
KGC TRAVEL: Bus leaves 10:15 am for "Kiss Me Kate", Sunday 3/9. Need wait list for "Sailor Circus". What about show, "Buddy Holly", 4/27??? Do we get more sales to take a bus? Or do we cancel? Deadline 4/5. Brand New this week - Happy Heart Tours (HHT) "Back Roads & Country Inns", Oct 16-24. Flyers available. I have reserved 20 seats and need your deposit before you head north. Other spring tours with HHT - Myrtle Beach and New Orleans in March. Hurry! St Augustine, Key West, Branson, San Antonio, Reno, check 'em out. NEW ENGLAND LUNCHEON: Monday, March 10, 1 p.m. - New Englanders, we are having a luncheon for March. We hope those of you who couldn't make breakfast can make it to a luncheon. It will be at Sharon's Restaurant (across the street from Kile's Hardware) again. There will be five meal selections - Grilled Chicken/Pasta, Fried Grouper/French Fries, Blackened Grouper/Pasta, Spaghetti/Meatballs, and Hamburger/French Fries - including salad bar, drink, tax and gratuity for $7 per person. KGC LADIES GOLF: The Bird Bay players will have a Tournament on Wed., March 12th. Usual tee time and sign up sheet will be posted in the Clubhouse.
SHOWTIME: It's "Tom and Judy" time in our Clubhouse!! Wednesday, March 12th at 7:30 PM .tickets ONLY $4.00. Tom Renaud and Judy Griffith on twin keyboards, bringing you music from YOUR romantic past!!!! Come and give your significant other a late Valentine with songs you love and REMEMBER! You'll even learn the verses that lead to the choruses we ALL sang! Tommy will even lull you with some lively, lovely turns on his saxophone on some of the tunes. Tix on sale this morning, so come and get 'em!!
GIVE THE GIFT OF LIFE: The Bloodmobile will be here Thursday, March 13, from 8:00 to 11:30 AM. Please sign up and give. We need lots of donors.
CRAFT GROUP: Everyone please come Thursday, March 13, to help label and inventory donated items for the Fair.
RV PARK NEWS: Mark your calendar and plan to attend the Pancake Breakfast at King's Gate RV Park next Friday, March 14, from 7:30 AM to 9 AM. Let's show our appreciation for all of the events they attend at the Club. (And thanks to all those who attended their Flea Market last Saturday.)
FAIR SET UP: We will be starting to set up for the fair on Friday morning, March 14, at 9 AM. Those wishing to help with the setup, please report to the courtyard on the north side of the Clubhouse.
BEACH TIME: The next Jetty Picnic will be Friday, March 14, at the North Jetty. Bring a dish to pass, your beverage, dinner service and come on down to the Jetty. Gather and social time 4 PM, eat at 5 PM . Hope to see you.
AFTER THE FAIR PIZZA PARTY: Sign up for the party! Where: At next two Saturday meetings.
Style: You don't bring anything - it's all there! Time: 4:30 PM (after the Fair closes)
Cost: $2.00 for Fair workers, $3.00 for non-workers.
SPORTS AWARD DINNER: Everyone is invited to attend on Wednesday, March 26. Chicken Cordon Bleu, punch, beer, and wine will be served. Social 5 PM, Dinner 6 PM. Tickets $11.00 per person. BYOB.
OHIO CLUB: I have scheduled the Clubhouse for Thursday, March 27, at 4:30 PM for a Happy Hour. Please bring some type of hot or cold appetizers to pass. Don't forget your drinks. BOOK CLUB: The March book choice is "Emperor of Ocean Park" by Stephen L. Carter. Join us on Monday, March 31, at 1:00 PM in the Library. This book is not available in paperback so start looking early for a copy. Sarasota County Libraries appear to have 20 copies with 50 people on a waiting list. Amazon.com has lightly used copies for $10 - $15 incl. tax & shipping.
VENICE ST. PATRICK'S PARADE, SATURDAY, MARCH 15: Volunteer walkers needed to walk the route, following our float and passing out flyers promoting our King's Gate Fair.
