A CHRONOLOGY OF KING'S GATE CLUB
PHASE ONE
Working hard for years, you need a vacation,
Invited to Florida, it's your destination.
You get off the plane and start to thaw,
Look at all the people, what's the draw?
Driving into King's Gate, you're immediately impressed,
The lawns and shrubs trimmed, they look their best.
The homes all look new, regardless of age,
Look at the mail boxes, it must be the rage.
You visit the castle, and look at the pool,
It's a little bit of paradise; you have found your jewel.
So without hesitation, you purchase a home,
Here you will settle and return when you roam.
PHASE TWO
You try all the activities, then pick and choose,
Work on committees, gladly pay your dues.
New friends are found, they're so sincere,
Whatever the problem, they lend an ear.
You spend time to learn the area all around,
Until the best 2-fers and early bird specials are found.
You eat Saturday donuts and help with The Fair,
A month without company is kind of rare.
You're so happy to be here with all your friends,
Thanking the good Lord, you hope it never ends.
But the months and years quickly go by,
Like the beach setting-sun, in the beautiful sky.
PHASE THREE
Having done your part, your energy is low,
When asked to help, you have to say no.
There are pictures to review and memories to share,
You've done your best, but it doesn't seem fair.
You have lost a few friends and several are ill,
Seeing the doctor, he adds a new pill.
Can't travel as much, night driving is out,
You're in God's waiting room, you have no doubt.
Your children are grandparents and want you back north,
Kicking and screaming, you concede and go forth.
Goodbye you youngsters who took my place,
The paradise of King's Gate you'll always embrace.
- Chuck Collins

HARLAN DOMBER, Real Estate Attorney, presented a seminar in our clubhouse on Wednesday, February 11, 2009. He was very interesting and informative. There was a large group, in attendance, to hear Mr. Domber discuss Florida homestead issues and alternative ways to title Florida property.
ORCHIDS: To Neil and Lois Crane and Wren and June McMains for volunteering to chair the Spring Dance on April 4.
TALENT SHOW: Kudos to Producer Vic Griseto for planning the Talent Show last Saturday evening. It was sold out. Refreshments were enjoyed first. Then, George Agricola was M.C. for the show. A total of 13 acts were enjoyed by the audience. So many people worked to help make this such a successful evening - impossible to list everyone, but we all enjoyed the entire evening. THANKS TO ALL OF YOU!!!
BANJO BAND: The Sahib Shrine Banjo Band presented a great evening of music and comedy this past Wednesday evening. Over 325 people attended this program (and a special thanks to the many people from King's Gate RV Park who attended). $1,369.81 was given to the Band from the sale of tickets. Another $600 was collected when baskets were passed during the program (another example of the generosity of our members). All money will be given for use by the Shriners' Childrens' Hospitals. THANKS to the Entertainment Committee for planning another delightful evening for our enjoyment!
THOUGHTS: Our Club is so generous and caring, as generous donations were given for the Guide Dogs, last week, and to the Shiners, for the Children's Hospitals on Wednesday evening. And as I make requests to several merchants, for donations to the Fair, and tell them about our donations to various charities, they are enthusiastic about giving us gift certificates. As I always say, it is just great to be a resident of King's Gate Club! - SJB
