HEALTHLINE: Alice Higgins and Gigi Conway are in Manor Care for therapy on their shoulder replacements. Cards and visits would be appreciated. Please remember that Jean Davis and Hilda Kruzuk are still there, in Manor Care, as well. ---Irene Bette
GUIDE DOGS: "PRINCESS" was born July 5, 2009. About a week ago, Lorraine picked her up from the puppy kennel, when she was just 8 weeks old. Jackie and Nip visited Princess at the kennel, one week before her release to Lorraine. She is a Hungarian "Vizslas", same as Duke, King and Baron. Scrapbook has been started. See her picture on the bulletin board. We have scheduled her for a visit to KGC on November 14th. ---Nip & Jackie Barker
THANKS: We wanted to thank all of you King's Gaters who have been so very kind to us over the past several years that we have spent at King's Gate. It is one of the friendliest places with the kindest people we have ever met, and we wanted to thank you all, first for myself as one of the team of realtors and secondly, for both Bill and I, for the many friendships we have made. The bad news is we had to leave all of you; the good news is we are only a few miles away, over in a villa in Chestnut Creek, so I am sure you will still be seeing us from time to time. Our phone number will still be the same (even though it is not working as of yet) so keep in touch, and God bless you all. ---Melanie and Bill Pillar
Editor's Note: When we first moved to King's Gate Club, in early December 2005, the Pillars were in charge of the club's Christmas dinner. As I recall, we were a bit reluctant, but somehow, Melanie 'volunteered' us to host a table at the dinner. It was a fantastic way to become involved in our beautiful community. I'm sure to be forgetting someone, but at our table on that special Christmas Day, we met wonderful KGC residents like Jack and Joannie Grubaugh, Lyle and Dee Hicks and our neighbors, Vic and Betty Kundrot. Anyone who visited Bill and Melanie's home, at 1 Castle DR, could testify to the magical remodeling talent that Bill possesses, and more importantly, we know what a very nice guy he is. Melanie's friendly personality as a sales associate and a broker, for King's Gate Realty, was a tremendous asset for the club. She kept the KGC Realty Board focused during the past year. We will miss both Bill and Melanie. ---sl

TRAVEL: We have returned from our trip to the Baltic, and happy to say all 32 came back with us and no real problems. I think everyone had a great time. We have lots of pictures and stories we would like to share with all of you. Our weather was perfect - sunshine and warm temperatures each day. The bus tours were great, and we think the highlight was St. Petersburg, Russia, but all the countries had special places and things to offer. The ship was nice, usual food and entertainment, service ok, but not to my expectations so I complained a little, would you believe that? We all came home for some R&R.....and I think everyone was glad to be back in the USA - no place like home.

Our Captain
Oh Captain, our Captain,
You somehow make it happen
Keeping us in line
No one left behind.
Some go to great length
Just to test your strength,
But you always come up aces
As you put us thru our paces.
You anticipate our every need
And give us a helpful lead
Even have money for bail,
In case someone goes to jail
It's just amazing how much you care,
Working with a handicap just doesn't seem fair
But we love Don,
And glad you brought him along!
So as we sail The Baltic please remember
Creme Brulee will not make you slender
We love you Mary Lou,
For everything you do
You are our inspiration,
To take another vacation.
