KGC BOOK CLUB will hold its first meeting of the season on Monday, Oct. 26 at 1:00 PM, in the Book and Game Room. Pat Cavalier will lead the discussion of "The Reading Group: A Novel", by Elizabeth Noble. Publishers Weekly described this United Kingdom, bestseller as a frothy page-turner that dissects the relationships, desires and discoveries of five English women, all members of a book club. MEN'S 18 HOLE GOLF LEAGUE began on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009. To sign up to play Wednesdays, put your sign up slip in the box in the clubhouse, by Sunday noon. We will be booking 'Big Summer Card' courses as much as possible, through November. (You won't need the card to play, but your fee may be slightly higher without the card). Women are also welcome.

HALLOWEEN: All of you Ghosts and Goblins out there in KGC, we invite you to the Spook-tacular Halloween Party and Dance on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM, in the dungeons of the Castle. Bring along appetizers or finger foods to share, and bring your own beverage. We invite you to come as your favorite Halloween character. Prizes will be awarded for costume and makeup at the Witches' Parade. Music will be played by the "Knights of the Roundtable." Dancing, singing, costumes, pumpkins, fun and a few surprises thrown in. Before Oct. 31, create a carved or painted pumpkin. Bring your pumpkin to the Oct. 31, Saturday morning meeting, to be judged and put on display. You may win a cash prize for your creation. Dec. 19-20th, 2009 - Christmas in Ocala. This is an overnight, something new this year to get you in the holiday spirit. We will spend the day at Silver Springs; then if you want to rest in the afternoon, the bus will return you to the hotel.
In the evening, we will return to Silver Springs for a wonderful turkey dinner, and view the festival of lights. Sunday AM, we will have breakfast at Arthur's, in the hotel, go the Carriage Museum and stop at Russell Stover's outlet on the return. $199.00 per person, based on double occupancy. Pick up a flyer today and make your reservations; need a count for hotel reservations soon. There will be a Mel Tillis concert, with his daughter Pam, called "A Tillis family Christmas" that is included in your trip, but if you want reserved seats they are an additional $15 for VIP seating. NEWSFLASH: At the November 7th, 2009 social meeting, I will announce a trip for Jan. 3, 2010. There will be only one bus, but this will give everyone a chance to sign up. It's a first come, first serve deal. Circle the date; no hints before November 7th.

REMINDER: Our in-house news channel (formerly known as Channel 33) is now located on Channel 117. Or, if your TV has a Comcast digital box, you will find KGC news on Channel 795. All items to be put on this channel should be addressed to cablenews@kgc.cc, left on the clip at 183 Princess Ave., or you may call me with items.
Also, a new clipboard, located on the door to the sound room next to the stage, will be used for messages. It will be checked once a day by the Cablenews operator and any messages left there will be put up at that time. By using the new e-mail address or the clip on the Sound Room door, any one of our operators can take over for vacations, or emergencies, without a disruption of service.
I know it is very hard to make changes, and we may always be known as Channel 33, but because of the use of two channels, we are now known as Cablenews. Please feel free to call me with any questions. ---Barbara Amatrudo, 484-0465
