KINGS GATE CLUB - THE EARLY YEARS:   Following is a continuation of the research done by the late George McIntyre, long time resident of the Club.
The first installment of "In The Beginning" appeared in last week's Newsletter:

On April 22, 1927, Dr. Fred Albee purchased 448.1 acres which included the site of the King's Gate Club, for $17,924.   On February 29, 1935, title passed to the Venice/Nokomis Company and on April 6, 1942, back to Fred Albee and his wife, Louella.

After several transactions involving mortgages, foreclosures and estate settlements, ownership passed into the hands of Edith R. Hurt and upon settlement of her estate, to her children, Carlton, Jay, Joanne, and William.   The land east and south of the King's Gate RV Park remains in their hands today.   The part of the land on which the two King's Gate's now sit was purchased by Lynn C. Morey from the Hurt estate in the name of the King's Gate Campers Holiday in 1975.

King's Gate Inc. became the next title owner under the developer and remained so until all the memberships were sold.   On January 12, 1987, title to the land was turned over to the King's Gate Club Membership, and on the same day the membership purchased the land known as the "eight acres" located at the north corner of the Club along Interstate 75.

Note:   George McIntyre was the first President of the Club.

More history will continue next week.   Hope you are enjoying reading it as much as I am enjoying researching OUR Club's background.   ---SJB
